Not sure at this point. But I am making a tied blanket for a raffle in church. It has words from "Amazing Grace" on it. Judy's Photo Album

I'm not sure either but, since I've been taking pottery lessons, there might be a few pieces gifted to family and friends---if I don't give them all away before then. I'm also doing quite a bit of one stroke painting so there are gift possibilities in that area. Jenx’s PhotoBucket Metamora IL/Sebring FL (There's a very fine line between hobby and mental illness. Julie, I tried your email and it would not send for me.
For the last 2 years at least I have wanted to make small recipe books of favorite family recipes that have been passed down from my Mom, add mine and new favorites. There would be 8 for my Children and Grands.
I could then make more for gifts to friends.
I would like to find a way to make a cover that would fold into an easel.
Hopfully this will be the year of the cookbook.lol

Nicky, the recipe books sound like a great idea. I might have to think on that one---if it's OK to use your idea. It'd be especially nice to include those recipes for dishes I take to pot lucks all of the time. I try to come up with new ones but there are standards I can always fall back on if I run out of time and imagination. I made bread pudding with cherry /rum sauce last week end for campout and was lucky to get any for myself. I rarely have to take anything home when I serve it. The same goes for BBQ water chestnuts. Thanks, Lil. I appreciate the kudos. For my first pieces, I didn't think they were too bad. At least my family and friends seemed to like them well enough to accept them as gifts. What I like best is that daughter Dena has been attending classes with me whenever she's available. She's gone back to school now (along with working full time) and won't have much time but seems to enjoy class almost as much as I do. I put all my faves on a cd one year and gave to all the grands...they still call for recipes. ..which warms my heart. Jenx, it is nice that Dena is close enough to go to classes with you, makes it more fun to go with someone... Lil Lillie gmalil’s PhotoBucket

Jenx I just got back to this thread. Of course I don't mind sharing the cookbook Idea with you or anyone as far as that goes. huh, don.t give ALL the pottery away before Christmas.
Another thing that I will be making as gifts (not so much for Christmas) is the hunters hoods made of Camo fleece. I have 4 promised already. These are for outdoors men. I sold one to a man to wear feeding his cows. Usually though they are for hunters. There may also be a piece or two of jewlery in there some where too. What ever strikes my fancy when I have the time to do it. Nicky lIFE ISN'T ALWAYS FAIR, BUT IT IS STILL WORTH LIVING! AND IT SURE BEATS THE ALTERNATIVE!!!

I'm working on a cookbook for my youngest son who lives independently. It will cover all his favorite dishes that mom made when he lived at home. Currently he doesn't cook, but someday he'll have children and need to economize. I had my mother add recipes from her collection as well. Other than that, I don't think that gifts will be homemade this year, unless I give away more of my green-tomato relish that I canned last fall. I made enough for nearly 3 armies - and I live alone! My current project is an afghan that must be finished by mid-October for the church Jubilee auction in mid-November. Any idea what the suggested retail value of a 6' x 6' handmade blanket is? Deb

Me too, I love the idea of small recipe books to give around. I'd include all my favorite recipes. Print them and laminate and bind in a cute way. I'm already excited about doing that.
Then I've my usual list of Jar Gifts. I absolutely love all the Jar stuff. Especially fun prank is to give someone an empty jar gift, something like this as featured on my site.
And me, too, I need (would love to) make a crocheted baby blanket for a baby due in January Good luck everybody.

Wow where do I start LOL....hmmmm, Jenx, you're ceramics are great...i'd start making MORE of them!!!..... Lillie, if you've got the supplies well get to it girl, i'd love to see that 'leaf bowl'!!!........Nicky, the recipe cards/book are so time consuming so i'm sure they'll be a wanted asset in anyones home!...Deb, that green-tomato relish sounds delicous girl & the thought of giving your son a collection of 'his favs' & some from your mom is such a warm idea straight from your heart, i'm sure he'll love every one of them!....Gelia, I read some of your Jar Gifts and i'm happy to say that I too agree with you on the 'empty' ones, the Melted Snowman one is my favorite by far! My mom made/croceted a white blanket for my son when he was born and i'm very sad that it somehow has 'left us'.... I have NO idea what I did with it except maybe I let someone or gave it to them when they were having a child...just wish I could remember 'who, why, when' and call & ask them if they still have it, i'd love to pass it on to my son for his daughter, my grand daughter Lacey who just turned 4mos on the 12th. I just said all that so those of you that are considering the 'removal' of such items have a second thought on it please!!!..... I would love to list all the things i'm planning on making but some of them will be used in a couple Christmas swaps both here & elsewhere....but i'll be glad to post 'after' LOL Janel aka Scootchie

Sounds good, Jeanie. I'm thinking about making Christmas cards again this year but wonder....Is it worth it? I made them twice during the last few years. Once I made about 50 IF ones and last year did one stroke painting on another 50. Each time, I had no more than half a dozen people ask if I'd made them and compliment me on them. The rest were clueless---or just didn't care. Jenx’s PhotoBucket Metamora IL/Sebring FL (There's a very fine line between hobby and mental illness. Dave Berry)

This year I'm thinking of doing some hanging planters. I like simple and useful gifts and I'm pretty sure nobody will have one like this.

I dont know what I am going to do this year. Need to get started. Jenx, I just looked at your pottery and if you are an amature then I cant wait to see what you do when you become an expert. You are a wonderful artist. I love them. Are they clay or ceramic countrysister,

Thanks Debbie. I appreciate the compliments. They're clay. I've been having difficulty classifying. I begin with a lump/slab of clay as opposed to molded greenware so I call it pottery. Since I do more than just pots, I wonder, is pottery the right term? Dena just gave me a belated birthday gift of books on pottery. Two are called potters guides. Does that mean I'm a wannabe potter? Lil, do you know the proper terms? And "yes", Lil, Dena meets me for class whenever she can. Calls it her stress relief. She just finished a wine cooler---gorgeous. Next, she wants to make a churchkey. It's the main souvenir she collects when she travels---the way I collect small pieces of artwork. I wonder how many of you know what a churchkey is. Should I just leave it there and see the reactions? Some years ago a friend had a ceramic shop and I did a few pieces with her but never had much interest in it. Now that I've been doing this, I feel the difference is about like coloring with crayons in a coloring book is to drawing your own pictures. LOVES, that's a great idea. One of my girls' favorite parts of Christmas morning is still digging into their stockings---and they're both in their 40's. The grandlings are the same way so they always save them til last---after they open the rest of their gifts. The Santa bag is very similar so the kids should love them. Then too, they'll always find a use for the bags during the rest of the year. Jenx’s PhotoBucket Metamora IL/Sebring FL (There's a very fine line between hobby and mental illness. Dave Berry)
