I reently joined the creative arts club.

I am an avid crochetter I have four children and six grandchildren and I made each of them an afghan - just finished the last one.

What type of help, etc is this forum?  I have never posted on a forum or anything like that.

Thanks

Carol

Hi Carol, these forums are for us to post anything we want to relating to crafts. I notice that there isn't very much activity on them but eventually somebody will answer a question sometimes. Guess it has to really catch their attention before they will answer because I notice there are lots of viewers compared to replies. I know how to crochet but haven't in years. Today I bought a skein of red yarn and a pack of crochet hooks to make something. Maybe a scarf. I am going to go to my local library and see what their class is making this week and join in with them, it's free. I lost all of my crafts supplies for every craft you could think of and sewing machines and fabrics etc. in a storage I had. That was soooo painful! Now I have nothing so I have to start collecting my craft stuff little by little with no money hardly. But, I love to craft! The latest thing I did was a christmas ornament swap. That was so much fun! Hey! I have an idea? Would you like to swap something with me for christmas? Since you crochet, I could maybe crochet something too. It could be an ornament or something bigger if you wish to swap a surprise. Let me know what you think. If you don't want to that's fine too. I just had a thought about it. It seems to be common in forums to see a lot more views than comments. I think a lot of people join but are too shy to post. And a lot of people just comment when the topic is something they are into.

Pretty much anything goes here. Ask for help or ideas, or share them, or show off your creations. We love to see pictures!

Hi all,

I think some of the reason you see more posts than replies is many people are polite enough to stop by and read a post, but they many not have the answer to your question or have any info that may help you.  Rather than post "I don't know" and have you have to wade through dozens of answers, they view and don't post - at least that's the way I go through the lists.

oh, and I'm a crocheter, knitter, all around crafter, too. I answer questions as I can, but also ask for help when needed - last month, I was looking for recommendations for a particular afghan pattern.  This is a very knowledgable, friendly group of people who help when they can and several had a response for me. ( there were more viewers than responders, there, too.

Right now, I'm knitting slippers for Christmas gifts for the family and just finished my sixth afghan of the season.

guilty! i read posts and don't always answer unless i think i have some thing to add (or ask). i do a bit of every thing becuse i have ccd (compulsive creative disorder) for intance i am attempting to learn crochet again. a freind taught me chain and i figured out loop and ... how to go back and forth don't even know what it is called! got a few books and am just always bussy. today i made grocery bags from scraps and contemplated the next chaper of my book and planed out a large scale water color for my living room and that was only the craft stuff i did today not to mention animals taken care of house cleaning clothes washed food cooked.... and this was my day off from work! but i got a crochet pattern for a sweater i would like to wear and by golly i am going to figure out how to read patterns and make that sweater! so i am reading other peopls delemas and deciding what me first q should be and i would have kept me trap shut if i had not seen a q i thought i could answer.

silversong, you sound like me when I was in my 20's and 30's. You are just a very creative person, and if you don'tt want to lose it you have to keep it up. I use to get bored and start something else and have different things going on because it seemed as though I wanted to do and learn everythinng. I love challenging myself to make things and fix things. Now I just dont have the energy physically so as long as you have the energy and the creativity for whatever you want to do, then just do it.
