• See photo for placement of ribbons and flowers.
• Let paint and sealer dry following applications.
STEP 1: Paint pot. Paint clay pot with white tempera paint (Photo A). Paint additional coats as needed for complete coverage.
STEP 2: Roll and cut clay. For work surface, cover an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardboard with wax paper, folding ends of wax paper around cardboard and taping to back. Use 1/3 of a package of clay. With dowel, roll clay 1/8" to 1/4" thick. Use the flower cutter to cut five large and two small flowers from rolled clay (Photo B). Poke a brad into center of each flower to make a hole and then remove it. Set clay flowers aside to dry.
STEP 3: Paint clay. Use sandpaper to lightly smooth the cut edges. For pink paint, work on the lid of watercolors and add water until there is just a tint of red. Note: Test color on scrap piece of clay. Use thinned mixture to paint one large flower (Photo C). If paint color is too dark, add more water directly on flower. In same way, paint two more large and one small flower pink.
For green paint, mix green with a small amount of yellow and brown. Thin mixture with water in same way as for pink. Paint two large and one small flower green.
STEP 4: Apply sealer. Spray pot and clay flowers with two light coats of spray sealer.
STEP 5: Finish. Wrap and glue ribbons around pot, overlapping ends at back. Insert brads into center of flowers and bend prongs to secure. Position and glue flowers to front of pot (Photo D).
