• Refer to photo for placement.
• Allow paint and glue to dry thoroughly between steps.

STEP 1: Paint edges. Mix hot pink paint with red paint as needed to match dark pink paper. Use 3/8” angled brush to apply paint to all edges and corners of tray, inside and out.

STEP 2: Cover tray. Cut two pieces of dark pink paper to fit each outside surface of tray. Use decoupage medium and 3/4” wash paintbrush to adhere dark pink paper to outside surfaces of tray. Trim excess paper if needed. Cut piece of light pink patterned paper to fit inside bottom of tray. Decoupage in place. Cut circle patterned paper to fit inner sides of tray. Decoupage in place.

STEP 3: Attach flowers & phrase. Layer flowers in upper right and bottom left corners of tray as shown. Use fabric glue to attach. Use embellishment glue to add crystals to flowers. For phrase/quote, use computer or pink pen and print on white cardstock. Trim to 3 1/4" x 2 1/4". Use inkpad to Ink edges of cardstock. Attach to bottom of tray using two layers of dimensional dots.

STEP 4: Paint transparency. Use round brush to paint white border around edge of transparency (approx. 1/8" to 1/4”). Paint free-hand swirls on right side and upper left corner of transparency. Note: If you want, use a piece of patterned paper as a guide for swirl placement.

STEP 5: Add photo and details. Place dot of clear embellishment glue on top right and bottom left corners of photo and attach to reverse side of transparency. Option: Use dimensional dots if you prefer. To cover adhesive at top right of photo, glue three crystals to top side of transparency. To cover adhesive at bottom left of photo, glue corner, flower, and crystal to top of transparency as shown.

STEP 6: Attach transparency. Apply small dots of embellishment glue at corners of tray and along sides, carefully keeping glue on outside edges to avoid glue spreading under painted transparency border. Carefully press transparency in place. Wipe any excess glue from edges of project immediately.

STEP 7 (Optional): Attach hangers. Use wood glue to attach picture hangers to back of project approximately 3/4" from top and 1" from sides. Thread ribbon through hangers and tie in bow at top. Trim ribbon ends at a slant. Note: Project can be hung directly using hangers, hung from ribbon, or used as a table decoration without hanging.

I love this. Great creation. I especially love the transparancy covering the whole project to protect it. The swirls give it the extra special flair. Lisa http://lettersandlace.blogspot.com/

Grow Your Own Vase

After drying the gourd for several months I cut off just the very top of it with a saw. I then cleaned out the inside, stained the outside, and sealed it with varnish. To embellish, I designed and cut out some leaves from a suede leather material. I then sewed some stitches on the leaves to resemble veins and glued the leaves to the gourd. It makes a great decoration.
